If you are a professional athlete or a weekend warrior, sports massage is an essential part of training. Whether your sport is running, cycling, skiing, swimming, or dancing, I will develop a therapeutic massage approach to meet your needs. My goal is to enhance your performance, speed up recovery time after an event, help you avoid injury, and extend your athletic life.
There are four contexts in which sports massage may be useful for you:
Pre-event - Provided at your event site. Fast paced and stimulating, it helps to establish blood flow and to warm up your muscles.
Post-event - Provided within 48 hours after your event. The intent is to calm the nervous system and begin the process of returning your muscles back to their normal state. Post-event massage can reduce recovery time, enabling you to resume training much sooner than rest alone would allow.
Maintenance - Regular sports massage concentrates on increasing motion and flexibility, relieving muscle soreness, and promoting quick recovery from muscle overuse. With increased circulation and body awareness, you can perform at maximum capacity.
Rehabilitative - Skillful massage therapy after an injury is aimed at alleviating pain due to the injury and can often speed and improve the quality of healing.
As a cyclist, skier, and yoga instructor, I have first-hand experience in the value of massage for my sports performance and injury recovery. I can develop a massage plan tailored to your therapeutic needs.
